Meredith Village Savings Bank: Sponsor Spotlight

As a mutual savings bank, MVSB has no stockholders, but rather operates for the benefit of its customers, employees and community. MVSB  has been living that mission for the past 167 years.  MVSB is proud to have been a sponsor since the first year of the Auction.

In addition to being a sponsor, MVSB has developed the tradition of purchasing from local businesses and donating those items to ensure that there are things to auction in the first crucial days each year.  MVSB Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing & Experience Officer, Cindy Hemeon-Plessner notes that they are able to support neighboring families and children, local businesses and community nonprofits with this approach.

In 2022,  the Auction Board opted to focus on increasing awareness of the auction to reach the people and businesses who were unaware of what the auction does in our community.  MVSB worked with the board to design a complete series of mailers, social media posts and print ads to help get the word out. MVSB paid for all the printing, mailing and ad placement the first year and donated all the files to the Auction so that they could be re-used.

MVSB employees are involved in the Auction too. Hemeon-Plessner says they have volunteered to run cameras, sit on the phone bank, work the cashier stations and deliver items to sell. The bank also has a PubMania / Community Challenge team and MVSB employees are on the Board as well as several committees year-round.

Hemeon-Plessner sees the benefits of the Children’s Auction first-hand as she chairs the Auction’s Distribution Committee which determines which nonprofits benefit from the significant amount of money raised each year. She is impressed with the hundreds of volunteers who raise money year-round for the Auction through community challenge teams. She says the amazing Lakes Region community makes it all possible.

The Greater Lakes Region Children’s Auction thanks MVSB for its forty plus years of support.
