Full article in the Laconia Daily Sun: Organizers of Pub Mania and the Community Challenge are streamlining efforts and returning to their pre-COVID focus with Pub Mania in the central role as the key, year-round fundraiser for the Greater Lakes Region Children’s Auction. The Challenge has been retired as of the start of 2025. The Community Challenge was conceived in 2020 as a way for Pub Mania teams to continue their commitment to the Children’s Auction in the absence of an in-person event. “We have brought Pub Mania back in a way that is sustainable for the long-term, and the Community Challenge overlay is no longer needed to continue successful fundraising for the kids,” said Community Challenge Chair and Pub Mania organizer Jennifer Beetle. “We have learned that having 30 teams is the sweet spot and that Pub Mania is the right event to encourage and support the leaders of those teams.” While useful during the pandemic, the Challenge added an unneeded structural layer to auction fundraising. Pub Mania can now be brought back to the forefront without affecting teams, their individual fundraising efforts or— most importantly—the net annual contribution to the auction. “The heart and soul of the success has been the team captains, and they will continue to inspire their teams and raise a significant amount of funds for the children of the Lakes Region,” said Beetle. “What we lose is merely an administrative layer.” Pub Mania and the Community Challenge have raised over $3.9 million for the Greater Lakes Region Children’s Auction since 2009.
