“We want to make it fun to visit the dentist”, says Jodi Phelps of Children’s Dentistry in
Gilford. With painted murals, live trees, a game room and even a train running along the
ceiling; the child-oriented environment makes most patients relax.
She says Dr. Melissa Kennell saw the need for a Pediatric Dental office and opened the
Gilford practice in 2011. When parents told her they were traveling from around the state to
Gilford, Dr. Kennell eventually opened offices in Plymouth, Littleton and North Conway. With
the expansion of the practice Dr. Matthew Smith, Dr. Timothy Smith and Dr. Jonathan Kremser joined the team. The team circulates among the offices and is able to offer sedation options in their Plymouth location.
Since Children’s Dentistry has been in business for over a dozen years, they are starting to
see the second generation of patients visit their practice. Phelps says it’s fun to see a former
patient who was once sitting in the chair become a parent and want to bring their own
children to Children’s Dentistry for dental care.
The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recommends bringing your child to the
dentist once they have their first tooth or they reach their first birthday, whichever happens
first. Phelps says they work with parents teaching them tips and tricks to make daily
hygiene easier recognizing it’s a family commitment.
Phelps recognizes partnering with The Greater Lakes Region Children’s Auction makes
perfect sense. As the practice has grown over the years, it has been able to make more of a
financial commitment to the Auction. Children’s Dentistry will be a Thursday Partner of the Day Sponsor again this year. “We love what the Auction accomplishes”, Phelps says.
The Greater Lakes Region Children’s Auction thanks Children’s Dentistry for their support.
