There hasn’t been a year since 2003 that Jodie Gallant hasn’t been involved in the Greater Lakes Region Children’s Auction. She worked at Metrocast Cablevision when the Auction was first televised giving the Auction a wider audience than ever before. She was a member of the Auction’s original Board of Directors for ten years and has remained active in donating, bidding and sponsoring. She has watched the Auction grow and mature pulling in local business leaders with various skill sets and talents to make the Auction better each year.
Gallant had the idea for a co-working space for about ten years before she opened WORK Lakes Region last October. She also owns a marketing firm, but working on her own she missed the collaboration and energy she had felt working as a member of a team. She began to realize other people felt that way too. The WORK Lakes Region space at 51 Elm Street in Lakeport includes private offices, a 10-person conference room, and a 30-room training/meeting space. The work space has hosted annual meetings, expos and off-site meetings. Gallant says the advantage for small business owners, freelancers and remote workers is they can reserve a space when they need it and not have to sign a year-long lease or worry about overhead costs or a long-term commitment. The modern design of the space is intentional, she says, to energize the work environment and encourage efficiency and creativity.
She sees her new venture also being a champion of the Auction, but will collaborate with her first-year clients to see what ideas they have. She sees WORK Lakes Region as a community where one can work in a shared space and use the connections with each other to not only improve one’s own work, but do some good for the community as well.
The Greater Lakes Region Children’s Auction thanks Jodie Gallant for her long-time support. Visit Work Lakes Region Facebook Page to learn more.
